FULTON, Mo. – Head Men's Tennis Coach
Justin Stuckey has announced the signing of Christopher Vleeming Ortiz. Vleeming Ortiz will be competing for the Owls during the 2017 spring season.
Vleeming Ortiz, a native of Guatemala, was the number one ranked 18 and under player in the country of Guatemala. Besides being ranked there he was ranked as high as 195 best junior tennis player in the world. He participated in Junior ITF's and won the doubles and singles tournament.
"We are very excited that Christopher has accepted our offer to be a student athlete at William Woods," stated head coach
Justin Stuckey. "He is a very hard worker and will make an immediate impact into our already strong team. It was very clear during the recruiting process that he fits well with what we are trying to build at William Woods. I look forward to seeing Christopher grow as an athlete over the next four years."
Besides being ranked and playing in the Junior ITF's, Vleeming Ortiz represented his country as a member of the Guatemala Davis Cup Team. He was also a member of the silver medal team for the Guatemalan team for Central America and Caribbean Games.
