Owls Baseball Earns Highest Team GPA In Nation

FULTON, Mo.—Not only has the William Woods University baseball team had continued success on the field, but off the diamond, the Owls have succeeded in the classroom yet again, as its team GPA of 3.50 was the highest in the nation among other NAIA baseball teams.

On the field in 2015, WWU finished the year with a 39-14 record, which tied the most wins in program history, while its 19 American Midwest Conference (AMC) victories, tied the programs' second highest amount in a season. The team also advanced to its second consecutive NAIA National Tournament.

To earn its team GPA of 3.50, meanwhile, that can be attributed to 25 players being named to the Academic All-AMC team, which was the most among all other AMC schools.

The Owls also had three players named to the NAIA Scholar-Athlete team, which requires a GPA of 3.50 or above and one Capital One Academic All-America honoree, which requires a student-athlete to have a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.
